need help identifying bonsai

I got this as a gift and I have been told it is a deciduous biloba. I searched for biloba trees on the web and they look nothing like mine. Can someone please help me identify it? It has very soft bright green leaves. In fact, they're so soft they almost feel fake; they have similar texture to those stress reliever toys that you can stretch twenty times their size. Thank you! Omar,

I do not know what this is, But it certainly is not a Ginko biloba [If that is what you refer to.]

Is there any chance that the person who gave it to you could contact the retailer where they got it to get further information on it?

You need an accurate species ID in order to provide proper care for it.

I hope someone else can help you more but in the meantime do pursue that info.

I went to the retailer and they apparently don't know what this is. I am very disappointed by them, but would really like to know what plant I have! they said that the plants had no trees when they got it, so that's a clue. thanks for any help!

Omar,

I see from the quote above that you pmed the same info to both Gnome and I. :?

I am not speaking for Gnome but in the future I'd prefer if you simply post it into your thread for all to see instead of pming it to me please.

Thank you.

You might google Podocarpus macrophyllus for comparison. Your tree has similar characteristics.

I have a Podocarpus macrophyllus and it doesn't look the same. This plant is also deciduous, while Podocarpus macrophyllus is an evergreen, as far as I know. still a mystery to me what this is ...

How do you know it's deciduous? Is this based on the info from the person who also said it was a ginko?

Yes, the person said that they received it in the store when it was leafless. But then again, it was the same person who said it was a biloba.
Its leaves are much softer than those of my Podocarpus, which are pointier and with sharper edges. I'm keeping it by an open window as I was told it is an exterior bonsai, so I guess I'll see with time if it loses it leaves.
Still no clue as to the species..
