Who is this little guy?

I just picked up a Bonsai today and sadly the tag said little more than "Water and Light, enjoy your Bonsai!" I don't even know which one it is or whether or not it's suitable for indoors. I made a topic about perhaps making my own, but I figured it might be easier to just grab one off a shelf for my first one.

Can anyone help identify this bad boy and if it's in a suitable spot for some sun (North facing window).

That looks like a juniper. They are outside only trees.

North facing windows aren't generally good for any plants, because they do not get ANY direct sunlight. They're great for an art studio!

Anyway if you search the forum for Juniper bonsai, you will find a lot of info, altho big chunk of that is going to be posts about how junipers are not good for indoor :)

Yup, outside tree, and it won't be a bonsai for many, many years to come. I still stabd by my book suggestion. At the very least, you'll have some good quality photos of some very high quality trees to inspire you, and to quickly teach you the difference between what a bonsai is and what a potted landscape nursery whip is.

Well yeah I will look for a book on it, I'm a beginner but I still want to try and get it going. I do have to ask just how much sun it needs. Right now it's placed in a spot that gets sun 8-about 12 in the afternoon.

Any exposure BUT north should be fine, full to part sun.
