abruptly dead tree...

I had a wonderful tree(maple). it was full of life. then one day a tornado warning came. didn't hit us, the tree was protected from the hail , wasn't too cold... but it was awefully windy... could the wind have killed my tree? is there something I can do to prevent this from happening again?

Sure it's dead? Could just be the leaves got blasted off or dessicated from high wind and then dropped off. Doesn't necessarily mean it died outright. Keep watering and you may be suprised...

Don't you have a botanical garden in Hamilton? I bet someone there could help...
