HAD GOOD LUCK WITH TWO FUKIEN TEA BONSAI TREES - FOR THREE YEARS - THEN LOST THEM BECAUSE OF INADEQUATE WATERING.
ABOUT TO BUY NEW TREES.
QUESTION: IS FUKIEN TEA A GOOD CHOICE FOR SOUTHERN FLORIDA?
THANKS FOR ANY INPUT PETER J
Hi Peter
In your climate, just about any tropical will do well outdoors year round. Finicky species like Fukien tea are just a little more of a challenge.
Ficus are hard to beat though as far as care and ability to produce a nice plant fairly quick. You should be able to grow killer plants there. My favorite is the narrow leaf ficus. Ficus retusa and microcarpa battle for a close second. Barbados cherry would be nice if you enjoy blooming and fruiting plants.
