Deciduous bonsai. How much light?

I'm not a Bonsai grower, but I have one plant that is my pride and joy, a 9 year old Cassia seedling, which I have entirely trained myself. My question is: this is a tree that in nature receives full sunlight, but I find that in our hot climate, leaving it in full sun it dries out too quickly.Am I correct in giving it more shade? I realize that by doing so I am reducing the chances of it flowering, but that was always going to be a bonus anyway.

Secondly it is deciduous and sheds its leaves 3 times a year but always bounces back. Is this a problem? I have heard that some deciduous bonsai shed their leaves more often than unrestricted plants.

Being that Cassia can be kept indoors in temperate climates, I am sure that you will have no trouble at all moving it into a partially shaded location outside.
