abnormal weather and bonsai

Hi everyone,
I am a little curious. I live in Maine and the weather has been really strange this winter. We have had very little snow and crazy temperature fluctuations .
I'm worried about my trees. The soil in my pots has thawed and frozen a lot because of the lack of snow insulating them.I didn't bother to protect their pots because by now we have literally feet of snow.
How do you house your trees in winter, and how worried should I be? :)

Its been the same in Mich...as long as your outdoor trees don't start pushing out new growth you should be OK. I open my garage or take my sheltered plants out into the shade. The ones that are outside have been OK. So I'm not worried. Now if we have a 60° day I'll worry.

We basically get the same weather patterns here as in Michigan, but 1 day later, then on to Maine from here.

When we have enough snow I make snowballs and place them on the soil surface of the potted trees that are in cold sheds. OR - if the snow is not available I substitute with ice cubes, about every 3-5 days. So far so good.
