germinating trident maple and Japanese black pine seeds

I had my black pine seeds in the refrig. for 5-6 weeks, and every few days opened the container to let in fresh oxygen. The seeds are in a mixture I bought online that is designed for seeds and seedlings and I watered it before putting it into the refrig. I have now moved the container outside, trying to get the seeds to sprout. Am I doing anything wrong? or is there anything else I can do to help have better results?

Any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated. This is my first time trying to start tree seeds, and I'm hoping to eventually have a tree for Bonsai.

Nope. Your doing the steps in their correct order. What you cannot control is how fresh (or viable) your seed is.

For instance maple seeds once dried are most likely dead.

Be very very patient a styled museum class tree is the labor of a lifetime.

But hey, we weren't going anywhere.
