Identification help needed please

I live in France and can't find the English name for this little tree:

I was told it's 7-9 years old.
I am brand new to bonsais and would appreciate any links or advice you might have to best care for this tree.

Thank you!

Hil,

The pictures you provided are a bit out of focus but try this. https://www.helpfulgardener.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3523&highlight=pepper

If you feel that this ID is correct use the search function to find out more.

Hi Norm

Thanks so much for your reply.
Sorry about the out of focus pictures :-(

I think you may be right except the leaves on my plant don't have a "dotted" or what looks like a sort of spiky edge.

But I suspect it's close enough to be closely related so I'll start there!

Any tips on how I should trim it?

Thanks again.

Hil,

You're welcome. Look here for more examples of this plant.

And as bonsai.

Many times trees with compound leaves can be challenging to style. I have seen a nice example of this species in a sort of broom style.
