Help reviving Hawaiian Umbrella tree

I have a neglected tree, I believe it is a Hawaiian Umbrella, my mother gave it to me after almost killing it. I have been reading up on ways to maintain it but I am looking for some advice as to the best way to get back into even moderate health. The past few days I have been watering it and keeping it in the sun but its condition actually seems worse. I am also concerned about if it might have a disease.

Any help would be great, I am not even 100% sure about the tree type.

Hawaiian umbrella - Schefflera, but I believe it is dead.

Go out and get a new one. Only a few bucks. Try to find a decent nursery (not a big box or discount store). Avoid ANY place that sells "BONSAI" with glued-on stones on the surface. That's all junk.

Local nurseries are selling off their late season stock now. Bargains to be found.

While I am sad to hear the its past the point of no return, at least now I wont spend all the effort on it just to end up with no result. Thank you though, I'll be looking for a nice little replacement.

Make sure the next one is well rooted, in proper soil, and doesn't get over watered.
