identifying my bonsai tree

I got this bonsai tree for my bday this year. I was told it was three years old but the person who bought it forgot what it was called. the tree itself is a little over a foot tall. it has small flower buds that are preparing to bloom. I think they'll be yellow/white flowers. the leaves of the tree are long tear-drop shaped and strong. I'm hoping someone can help me identify the species.

Souki,

This looks a lot like the tree that BigDaddy is trying to identify. Look at this thread https://www.helpfulgardener.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3938

It may be a Fukien tea although I don't grow this species and therefore can't say with any certainty.

Thanks for the help, Gnome. After reading your suggestion I went in search of fukien tea pros and after a bit of comparing, I'm pretty sure that's what my tree is. Thanks again. Now I can start caring for my tree better :)

You can identify fukiens by their "cat like tongues" feel to their leaves, the white flowers and the shape of their leaves. Usually 3points on the leaf.

Also they grow leaves in clumps, usually springing from right from tough bark already in place. They are very hedge like and usually can be shaped by pruning alone.
