Tarian,
Outdoors I am partial to Chinese Elms. Zelkova are also vigorous growers and very forgiving. Junipers are also good candidates for outdoor culture. I have also started with Scots Pine from seed this past spring. They have done well so far but take very specific knowledge to manage them properly.
As far as indoors, I don't do a lot, recently Ficus benjimina (Mini Lucie). I think that I would really like to acquire a Willow leaf Ficus next. I also have been growing Jades for years but many would consider them outside the realm of traditional bonsai culture.
By the way all your trees will enjoy some time outside in the summer if you are able. What do the rest of you think?
