I cant find these trees on any bonsai web site PLEASE HELP!!

I got these trees a couple months ago from my wifes grandmother, I tried asking her what kind of trees they were but she only knew thier nicknames. I even tried looking up the nick names, it just showed me something totally different. Can anyone help me out??
She called this one a "lipstick tree" based on the flowers it produces... Google showed me something else.

Also the leaves on this one are looking crispy out of no where, can trees get wind burn? If so how do I keep this from happening?

Big Daddy,

I tried asking her what kind of trees they were but she only knew thier nicknames.
What names did she know them by? Are they both the same?

It is kind of hard to make out any detail. Do the leaves resemble any of these?

If so it/they is/are Chinese Elm. A closer picture of the foliage would help.

Do I see thorns on that last one with the crispy leaves? Oh, and what were the nicknames?

Newt,
Yes those are thorns, someone else said it looks like a black olive tree, but I havent seen any with thorns like mine. Also since my last edit about my burned leaf concern its gone from that to this, I think I'm killing it somehow I don't know what to do  ???? Any thoughts would help.

Hi, I have commented before and I see you havent found any black olive that looks that way but trust me there is. I have a spiny black olive tree that looks just like yours only smaller, I am having the same problem with it and it seems I have lost it. I am pretty sure it had something to do with taking it inside for the winter and that climate change had a negative effect on it. As for the other one, from what I can tell from the bark it looks like a chinese elm, but I cant tell for sure because I cant see the leaves, it looks great though.

Hey Tom,

Thanks for the input. Where do you live? I live in Hawaii, so I'm not exactly having any winter type weather. I don't think its the cold thats effecting it, the temperature has dropped for here, but its usually in the 70's everyday. It all started with high cold winds, then it got worse before it got better. I don't know, hopefully its not completely dead yet  I would love to save it.

Hey, I found this link on a site that has a tree that looks just like yours before it started getting brown. https://www.meehansminiatures.com/shop/images/products/IN-0130.JPG

On this site it says the tree is a native to Florida and I would guess that the climate there is about the same so it should be kept outdoors year round. Where are you keeping it now? If its inside you should get it outside a soon as possible. I live in New Jersey and it gets too cold here to keep it outside so, when I brought mine in the shock of the transfer may have killed it. Do you know where it was kept before it was given to you? These factors could be important if your tree is going to live.

Tom
