Indoor Gardenia Jasminoides 'Radican'

I have received a Bonsai Indoor Gardenia. Does this plant need to go through dormancy? Being in Zone 5 of USA I am not familiar with Gardenia plants. Do they lose their leaves? If so, how do I go about doing this?
Thanks for the help

Marian,

Paul Lesniewicz in his volume "Bonsai in your home" states that Gardenia jasminoides or common Gardenia is an evergreen shrub from China that does well year round indoors in a bright location. Furthermore he states that winter temperatures should not fall below 53 degrees with the ideal temperature between 59 and 64. Cold, wet feet are to be avoided and protect the plant from dry air.

Marian,

You're welcome, glad it helped. The book I cited is a decent introduction to bonsai in general and provides information on many varieties suitable for indoor culture.
