Schefflera arboricola Root over Rock

I found this guy at the small local nursery I often frequent. It was pushed in the back and was far more established than the other ones ( same price too). I guess It pays to snoop around towards the back shelves

So I decided to make it a ROR since my last attempt went rather well. Its roots are far thicker and it was difficult situating the plant on the rock. this was the only pot I had at the time, but its tall enough to have the roots 'descend' down the rock.

here it is in its old pot.right after I brought it home

still a few exposed fine roots, so to ease the stress I built this little contraption until they can thicken.

still trying to decide on a front..I guess I ll figure that out when I reposition it in its new pot in a few years. most likely turn the tree on its side and induce aerial roots to form.

Wow, great find. You rarely see trunks that mature on Scheff's in nurseries, even in larger, 3-4' tall plants. Awesome.

I love the base of this scheff. The last pic makes it look like it's climbing on a rock. IMHO I think some of the best bonsai look like they are in motion even though they aren't moving.A nice find and some great work!
