Juniper-using regular potting soil.

I had to pot my 6 inch shimpaku juniper in regular potting soil today. When I recieve a new shipment of free draining soil. Can I repot using the new stuff?

I wouldn't re-pot anything any more than once every 2-5 years. It is very stressful for the roots. Let the poor plants grow until the roots have filled the pot.

Seems everybody wants to re-pot way too often.

I think you should do some research on some of the Junipers you have to see what they like and what they hate.
And potting is not a get-a-way tool, use it when needed.
The tree should be fine in the soil it comes in.

well the soil I have it in retains WAY to much water and it will develop root rot I'm sure of. But if this is the tree's fate than so be it.

I would be afraid of root rot.
junipers hate wet feet!
well maybe just water less often and repot in the winter.
