hello all. my name is janet. I sent my mom one of these bonsai trees for x-mas. it is so cute with a knotted trunk. I got it from bonsai boy online. anyway......my mom says the tree has lost about half of it's leaves and she doesn't know what to do. she is following the instructions to keep it in the sunlight and water it when it gets dry. she lives in tx but she has the humidity tray as well. it hasn't turned brown or anything--the leaves are still green when they fall off.

the info I had said the tree was very resiliant and good for indoors(which is where she has it). any advice would be appreciated.

Leaf drop is often due to photoperiod (amount of light). This being a fairly easy plant (I have had mine, raised from cuttings for near two decades). If water is not the issue (overwatering could be it as well), I'd look at light conditions...
