Yesterday, my parents got me an Eastern Red Cedar tree as a present. I have posted things on other forums about this and it does look like a 'stick in a pot'. But to me, it has lots of potential. During spring, I'm going to plant it in the ground, somewhere.
I am going to a few nurseries today to look for a Red Maple. I'm hoping to find something more than a 'stick in a pot'. Or something that looks like it has potential for me to turn it into an 'Art form'.
Does anyone know how to take care of a Eastern Red Cedar?
Also, ANY suggestions on what type of tree would be a nice Bonsai for my climate?
Sincerely,
-Justin

If I lived in Largo I would want to grow the three B's for Bonsai -
Bald Cypress, Bougainvillea, and Buttonwood !!!
In Central New York the maples I want to have (and I do) are Trident and Japanese. My cedars are, of course, safely under lots of winter snow, and they love it there.

So far the Cedar is doing okay. I might consider doing the three 'B's'.
I need to take a picture of the Cedar and post it on here. So far, (to me) the Cedar looks like its doing fine.
Actually, I do have picture of the Cedar:

Thats the whole tree.
