Hi Folks, I picked up these 2 plants for dirt cheap from Walmart today. Need all the help I can get with whether or not I should start training them right away or leave it until it's used to their surroundings 1st.

How old do you think these trees are?

Should I dig them out of the glued in gravel and fake moss right away or wait a while?

There are bare branches on the elm as well as what seem to be new buds. I think it's been mistreated at Walmart. I bought it for the small leaf type since I already have the regular leafed type. Should I care for it the same way as the regular type?

Go ahead and get the glued-in gravel and fake moss off now. It's evil  .

Hi,

Thanks for that confirmation, maybe it's what's making the elm unhealthy. According to the tags, they are from "Costa Farms" So far I can't get onto their website, getting some "out of bandwidth error message caused by the site owner". Would like to get some information from them, that's for sure.
