bonsai tree

I am planning to create a bonsai but I don't know how to select a tree for it. What are some of the trees that you can suggest? And how to do it?

ezylala,

That's a pretty tall order, people spend years learning how to create credible bonsai. Can you give us some more information? How much do you know about horticulture? Are you able to keep houseplants in pots alive over the long term? Are you interested in traditional, outdoor species and if so where (in general) do you live? Or would you prefer a species that can be grown indoors? If you wish an indoor tree, are you able and willing to keep it outside when the weather permits? If so, again, where are you located? Answer these questions and we will be better able to advise you.

Welcome ezylala.

A juniper is always a good start. Easy to find at Home Depot or Lowe's and not too expensive. But, from there, the field is wide open. There are many, many styles and methods for cultivating a bonsai. If you could be a bit more specific on your desires, we'd be very happy to guide you.

As Norm asked, it would be helpful to know where you live so that we could advise on what types of trees would do well there. Do you want indoor or outdoor trees. (Junipers are outdoor trees and will die inside.)

So, let us know what you're looking for and we'll help you decide. :)
