Shohin Ficus Nerifolia (UPDATE)

Here is a Ficus grown from a cutting of a huge ficus bonsai it has excellent taper and I sculpted it myself enjoy:

Here is the primary styling it looked like a bush before but now is looking more like a bonsai obviously it needs a lot of work in march and july I will conduct a total defoliation to increase ramification, improve on the uro and nebari as well as constant wiring and pinching

the tree it came from is over 10 years old and the cutting has had roots for less than 3 months and as a bonsai 25hrs.

Josh,

I like the material but do you think this is the right piece of stock for a formal upright? The movement low in the trunk seems to make this more suited to an informal upright. You even have the first branch in place at the location of the Uro. Just something to think about as you move forward.

its supposed to be an informal... But what made you think otherwise I'm curious? :? Well the first branch is down to the left and the uro on the right th uro is right on top of the sashiata (not sure about spelling) the branch that defines the movement. In this case the second branch out to the right.

Oh I see the picture of the envisioned tree. It was just a sort of comparison to a more full foliage pad.

Here's a quick update:

After a defoliation and the begging of the growing season this is where I'm at it still has a lot of work to go but in time I believe will become a breathtaking specimen.

Heres a more recent nerifolia only 5.5 inches tall but really thick about 4 inches thick at the base the photo doesn't really do it justice. In about late June I will defoliate cut back and establish an initial shape.

Josh,

This new tree will put you years ahead in development of the other one. Rather than spend time thickening the trunk up, you can move right to refining the branching. Excellent purchase. When do you intend to re-pot it?
