verticillium wilt & Bonsai (Japanese Maples)

I'm curious, how do people prune roots on trees that have a high susceptibility to verticillium wilt? I am going to be working on some new nursery maples in the spring which will likely require some root pruning. How do I proceed to prevent this fungal infection through the pruned root tips?
