While this may work for a ponytail palm, most of the time in bonsai we strive to water a lot at once, then allow the soil to dry out before watering again. This method would keep the soil constantly wet. It's a question of a little water at frequent intervals, or a lot of water (as in a full saturation) at less frequent intervals (when the soil dries out). But I commend your willingness to think outside the box and do your research. Keep it up and you will be able to get ideas that are both novel and useful.
