false cypress Chamaecyparis Lawsoniana
I have been educating myself about growing bonsai. I'm wanting to train it and do the work. I bought a Chamaecyparis Lawsoniana "Golden Surprise" upon the recommendation of a person at a nursery. She said they are vigorous and somewhat easy to maintain. Right now it's a small 6 inch tree that is untrained and not trimmed. The soil is 4 inches deep. She said to spread the soil into quarters when I put it in a shallow pot. What are some other recommendations. New soil on the bottom? How long will it take to adjust to the new shallow home? I would like to trim off the lower branches to display the trunk. When should this be done? Thank you!!!
