Dying Bonsai - Help!

I've kept my bonsai successfully for 2-3 years but a friend looked after it for 2 months this summer. She is a very sucessful gardener and looked after it carefully but when it was returned 2 weeks ago it had lost all but 95% of its leaves. I have repotted and fed it and am giving it the usual care but there are now only 10 leaves left. New green shoots are still forming but these go brown at the tip after about 2 days and wither then fall off. The tree was a Mothers Day present from my son and I'm desperate to keep it alive. Any advice would be wonderful.

Jennya;

Not to much adive can be offered without knowing the species of tree and how you have been caring for it. Your recent repot has shocked it, so give it some time to recover. Don't overwater the tree. This will make things worse. Keep it on the dry side and give it time..

Thank you Phil for your advice - I'll ease up on the watering and try not to panic. Thanks again.
