Maple leaves browning on the tips

The leaves on my Japanese maple bonsai were really green for a long time, but now alot of the leaf edges are browning. What causes this to happen?

Here where I live, we had a huge heat wave that scorched the leafs of all the maples in the yard. If you're maples have been exposed to a heat wave in recent times,that may be the cause.

I does get pretty hot out here in southwest U.S. Maybe I'll keep them in the shade for a while.
