Can Anyone tell me what kind of tree this is?

I got this tree for an early D-Day's gift but it did say what kind of tree it is or how to take care of it. I would also like to know how to train this one?

HELP

I thought I'd help with the picture issue. My guess is a juniper or some type of pine, but then again I'm not really that great at identification.

Question do I just let it grow for the summer and try to wire later or do I try to train it now. I did cut of a couple of branchs the were just sticking out and looked bad.

Dave,

I don't think that there is a lot that you should do right now in the way of training. I feel you should take some time to learn how to manage it and to get some growth.

I would remove the top dressing, especially if the pebbles are glued in place. This stuff serves no purpose and it makes it much more difficult to judge when to water. When you do water it may also make that more difficult.

So, I have the tree outside and I am removing the glued on pebbles today. I find there is a spider that likes to make it a home. Seems to run it's web from my little tree. Is this a problem?

If they're spider mites, I'd say they're a problem. Definitely a juniper, but doesn't look like procumbens and yew is something else entirely.
