my fiance and i always wanted a bonsai tree. we finally got one and it looked great for about 4 months. now the leaves/needles have turned brown and begun to fall off. i see no signs of fungus or anything. i don't know what to do. please help!

I'm going to guess that your tree is a juniper and that you have kept it inside?

I would discard the dead tree and buy a new one but read, the basic instructions that I have provided at the top of this forum. Scott has added his advice to them as well.

Most trees should be kept outside and only brought in to showcase the tree.

Anyway, take a look at the basic instructions atop the page and feel free to ask any questions

Japanese garden junipers are not happy in indoor conditions for long; if you really want an indoor tree I recommend tropicals like Ficus or Serissa...

we will try again... thank you both very much. is there a bonsai that we can keep indoors? we like them because they are so beautiful, and would hate to have to keep it outside.

I'm with Sharp; this is the best tree for beginners...
