Mealy bug recovery program for grape bonsai
In the last week, my grape bonsai has been attacked by mealy bugs. I tried just removing the bugs as I saw them, but it got out of hand quickly. Every time I looked, there would be 5-10 on him. I know it's probably not recommended but I had to pull some of the bark off to get to the little pests. Anyway, my bonsai is struggling and I'm wondering if there is anything I can do to help the little guy recover. He's outside in Southern California. Any advice?

luigi,
Welcome to The Helpful Gardener.
If you use the search function with the word 'alcohol' you will find a recipe for a homemade insecticide that one grower swears by. Also try 'insecticidal soap' or perhaps just 'soap' Another possibility is 'Neem oil'
There have been numerous threads concerning various pests and different remedies for them. I have never had a real problem with this particular pest but I'm sure others have and hopefully they will see this.
