Bonsai - B&Q question.

I've just picked up small bonsai from my local gardening centre ( B&Q) it's the same as this one here:

I'm not sure what it is, there was tentative ID of this tree as Sageretia theezans but someone else said to me it might be Chinese Quince. Can anyone shed some light on this?

ronin,

Until you have a positive ID it would be imprudent to move it outside at this time of year. Search for 'Sageretia theezans' on Google Images and try to determine if they look like your plant.

Some images of my plant:

It has to be Chinese Plum, it even got the same pot as the one here:

But the leaves of both of these plants are almost identical (at least to me).

I would think it would be ok to move your tree outside. What is your climate like this time of year?

Forecast here:

If it is the Chinese Plum ( most likely) I've read somewhere It's advised to keep it indoors until May - but I don't know how does it relate to my climate.

Your still in the mid 40's so I would say keep it inside until it gets above 60 degrees. I might be wrong though, I have no idea about this species.
