Bonsai - Chinese Sweet Plum

I recently purchased my first bonsai - a Chinese Sweet Plum. I've taken several books out of the library, none of them reference this species. Can anyone tell me what it falls under (elm, perhaps?). Also, I'm afraid I may have damaged it. I was keeping it near a window that gets brite afternoon sun. The leaves are still very green but very dry. Is there hope? Can anyone recommend a good source of literature for caring for this particular tree?

Thanks to all.

The description you give is not promising, but here is some specific info that might help. Soak the pot and keep it shady for a while...
