Hi,
I am from Canada and just got my first Bonsai tree from IKEA. I am not very sure about the variety of my tree. One of the user suggested its a variety of ficus. Could you please confirm it?

I originally wrote in the Introduction forum:
slacklover,
Welcome to The Helpful Gardener. My first though was the tree was a variety of Ficus but the more I looked the less certain I became. I think I can see new shoots that are sort of rolled and pointed. Is this correct? If so this would tend to confirm. Also, nip a small shoot and look for a milky, latex like substance which would also confirm. Please stop by the Bonsai Forum perhaps someone else can help.

Both do seem to indicate Ficus. Does anyone else see anything I may have missed?Hi Norm,
Thanks a LOT for the reply.
Yes I see that the new shoots are pointed and rolled. and as you suggested I just took a small leaf and got a milky substance coming out.
So does this mean its a ficus?
Thanks again!
