can any one help me with my orchids
i have had them once before but they died
i have been told you don't want to get the leaves wet, water can go down to the roots and rot the roots
they don't like direct sun
when you water you let the water drain on racks so it doesnt sit in the water
so if i could have some help, that would be wonderful

I'm not 100% sure how to help you, but I'll give it a try!
I'm quoting this from a site:
"March to October, cymbidiums need ample water and frequent applications of a high-nitrogen fertilizer. Fertilize with a complete liquid fertilizer (22-14-14) every 10 days from January to July. From August through December switch to a low-nitrogen, bloom-inducing fertilizer (0-10-10) applied on the same schedule." (garden.org)
It does say they don't like direct sun, and mentions possibly planting it on the east side of your home, so it gets morning sun but is protected from the afternoon blast.
Newwildflowers.com mentioned watering with rainwater
Here are the sites I found:

I hope you can get them to grow, they're very beautiful plants!

| I am not an expert, but a friend of mine and her mom advised me to only water mine when it is dry. (Both have multiple orchids that rebloom constantly) The instructions that came with the most beautiful orchid I've ever seen was to water it weekly and that is what I have been doing and it has gotten worse and worse. They told me to water when the pot was light and only fertilize once every 2-3 months. I keep mine in the bathroom where it gets indirect light and lots of humidity. The temps here are too extreme to grow outside. |
