To all members,
The Webmaster has recently updated the search function with new features that should make searching our forums easier and return more relevant results.
The new function is accessed from the navigation bar at the top of the forum. The link is named 'SEARCH THE FORUM'
We now have the ability to search a particular forum, by the name of the user, or even a partial name if you can't recall the entire name. It is also possible to refine your search to a general time frame if you have some idea of when a particular post was made.
We hope that the change will enhance your experience at The Helpful Gardener and encourage all users to make the most of this capability. If there are any questions feel free to contact any of the Moderators or the Webmaster.
Norm

I have already made use of the new, improved Search function. It's much faster than the previous Search we had.
I wanted to see previous discussions on Colony Collapse Disorder, which is causing honeybee populations to plummet. I looked for CCD twice.
1) I entered the words "colony collapse disorder" in the search box. I didn't notice that the "look for ANY terms" radio button was defaulted.
I got tons of returns; any thread at all that had any of these three words in it. Just a *few* more pages of results than I was really looking for.
2) I then entered the words "colony collapse disorder" in the search box once more. THIS TIME, I checked the radio button to "look for ALL terms" in relevant threads.
PAY DIRT! There were perhaps 5 or 6 threads in all where this topic has been discussed.
So, to cast as wide a net as possible, select "Any terms." To narrow your search down, select "All terms."

Just a heads up that you no longer have to select a different way of searching as I made Cynthia's way of searching the default. So all you have to do is enter your search phrases into the topmost search box then scroll down a little and hit the SUBMIT button.
Thanks Cynthia for showing us the way!
