I know NOTHING about hydrangeas, please help!

HI, my boss, who is like Martha Stewart, constantly gives me things to plant at my house. Most of them are simple and I just stick them wherever the appropriate sunlight is. Well she gave a teeny tiny hydrangea bush, it is only two stems about 5-6" tall, it looks very healthy though. I have read some on them and from what I gather it is not good to plant them in the fall, is this right? Can you guys give me some details so I can try to grow this pretty bush?

Late fall is a good time to plant hydrangea. Especially in your southern area, you want to plant it in an area that gets some morning sun, but is protected from hot afternoon sun (afternoon shade). Water it in well, but be sure it is in well draining soil that isn't going to stay soggy.

How lovely to have some one giving you free plants! But that one being so tiny, you will need to take care of it for a year or so, til it gets better established.
