It's important to participate. I encourage you to take part in discussions. You'll be pleased that rudeness is not tolerated and most of our members are respectful normal people like you. So being afraid of what others may think about your post should not be an issue. There's no need to be shy.

Periodically I go through the forum and members who don't have more than one post will have their posting privileges revoked and any signature links in their profiles removed.

The reason is because a forum is about community and community is about participating. Beyond that, participating is actually a good way to learn more, far more than simply lurking.
