Can anyone give me some advice on what type of leaf vacuum to go for especially the merits of an electric or petrol driven one.

I wish I could help you from experience but I use the old fashion rake. I have heard opinions on the different leaf blowers. Electric quieter but messing with the cord is a problem. Electric starts right away... gas may or may not start right away. On the flip side I heard gas blowers were more powerful. I hope that was of some help.

I HATE hearing the leaf blower going all day next door. HATE IT!

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!

Just kill me. Confused

Buy a nice rake or do what I do. Use my lawn mower and mulch it into the grass. I have an acre surrounded by big trees. I get tons of leaves and the lawn mower, set on high, grinds up the leaves very nicely. I may have to double cut the lawn, but it's worth it.

I do have an electric blower I use to blow out the garage and blow off the driveway after cutting the grass. Cords are a pain. If I was going to buy one or the other for doing leaves, I'd go with a gas powered one for the freedom to go anywhere in the yard.

If you do not have very much to do the electric will work and it starts on the 1st pull. If you need more power and have a larger area to cover the gas is the way to go. I like to run over them with the rider mower I put a bagging system on and use it for mulch. This is what I would like to have but money is going to so many projects right now, but I can dream for now.

I have a lot to mow and rake. Additionally I plant rye grass and mow year around. Bagging this grass with leaves is perfect to keep the compost pile cooking hot. I have a Troybuilt easy pull blower. Starts on the first or second pull every time. It blows like a typhoon and really is easy pull. I don't know how they make that cord so easy to pull but it is.
