I'm just wondering if anyone knows of or uses a moss that is amenable to
growing indoors that can be used with our indoor plants? _________________ Regards,

I know I can't keep it alive indoors. Perhaps someone else has had better luck. _________________ Rosaelyn @}>---'---,---

I don't bonsai, but only way I've ever been able to keep moss alive indoors was in a closed bottle garden on right edge of NE and left edge of NW windowsills where no direct sun ever shines on it, so humidity must be the obvious factor.
Maybe people with automating misting system have done it, or maybe in a bathroom where the shower or bath is used at least once a day or kitchen counter by the sink/dishwasher? |

I have had some moderate success using non-moss ground covers, like Babies Tears. Some other plants can be used that resemble moss very closely, even though they're not. I forget the names of them, so I will try to look them up (one started with an "s"; I know that much). There are also a few varieties of tropical mosses you can order online, however they may need a high humidity environment. _________________ הדמיון הוא יותר חשוב מאשר ידע |

Thanks for the replies.
BonsaiBoy, if you come up with those plants please post them.
I mist my trees 2 or 3 times a day and maintain fairly high humidity in their room so I might be able to make it work. I just have no plants in mind currently so any more suggestions would be very much appreciated. _________________ Regards,

So Dicranum is the genus name for the tropical moss, but you must be carepul because some species of temperate mosses share this name. As far as the plant that looks like moss goes (but isn't), it is of the genus Selaginella. This latter type of plant may fair better than normal moss, but I cannot say for sure. _________________ הדמיון הוא יותר חשוב מאשר ידע |
