What Shrubs are Non-Toxic to Dogs?

My wife and I have our first house and looking to do some basic landscaping, and I know in the future we want to great a garden for ourselves.

My first question is we are looking to find a few ideas for a non-toxic (we have a dog) plant/shurb that shows flowers in the spring/summer and stays green in the winter. Any ideas??

thanks in advance

It's probably easier to identify which plants are toxic, rather than the multitude that are not toxic. :)

This site might help you avoid plants that could be potential problems:

The ASPCA also has a listing of common household plants (container plants, I think) and shrubs/flowers which are toxic to dogs or cats at

https://www.aspca.org/pet-care/poison-control/

and, of course, be sure not to use cocoa-bean mulch, which is also toxic. The bags don't generally say so, but this mulch *is* very dangerous.
