Hello group,
I'm new to the group and am very excited at discovering this resource! I have just purchased a Chinese elm from a local nursery. I talked to the people there and found that their bonsai stock is provided, & cared for by the local bonsai society in my community! I will post pics as soon as they upload.

Could you tell us the name (location) of the bonsai society in your community? It's always nice to know where new members are located. And it would be great if you contacted them - check out their activities, classes for beginners, bonsai shows, demos & workshops. AND post that info here on our special (sticky) thread for shows.
Welcome!!
Welcome!!
Oh sorry for being vague, it's the las Vegas bonsai society. They just had a show at the nursery I visited too.
I have pictures now!

I know it's kind of dark, cell phone cam flash is a little wimpy but that's the huge display of all different types of bonsai's at the nursery I bought my tree from. I'm thinking about going back with my *real* camera to take more photos. There were some really awesome old/big bonsai's in that display too
I've got my tree situated so that it gets a limited amount of my las Vegas direct sun, and mostly indirect bright light for the largest part of the day here. I definitely don't want to fry this little guy! On daily inspection I have been finding a low number of scale bugs that I've been removing. Today I think I saw my first crawler so I'll have to address those too. I also saw a little red spider mite, I don't know if those are harmful yet.
