Transplanting grape vines

Hello all,
I am completely new to growing grapes and don't want to kill what I have. I live in North Carolina and just received some grape vines in a 1 gallon container. I know it too late in the year to put them in the ground, but I'm wondering if I should put them in bigger containers until the spring or just leave them in the small containers. Thanks in advance for the information
