Monster cabbage...

This thing is huge,, planning on doing a ham and cabbage this coming weekend and this is the main course, not sure just how much it ways but it"s almost the size of a basket ball.

Monster cabbage was turned into monster dinner, it weighed out at 9.5 pounds. Couldn't place it all into the pots some had to be placed into a freezer bag.. Ham and cabbage one of my all time favorites..

Wow! That was some cabbage. I did try to grow a head cabbage once, it got about the size if a fist but half of it was eaten by slugs, the rest ended up with the worms.

I have never seen a cabbage that big, at least you have certainly made good use of it.

I think with things like cabbage it helps to be up north in cooler conditions and longer days to get really big produce.

Buddy of mine gave me a cabbage plant last spring. It grew pretty well, but by the time it was around softball-sized, it was riddled with cabbage loopers...and I mean *riddled* with them.

I'll just buy my cabbage at the store - less hassle and costs much less overall!

All mine went to sauerkraut this year I had 7 real nice big ones almost as big as yours the biggest was 8 pounds. I found a real nice OLD OLD OLD 25 gallon crock at a garage sale for 5 bucks. It is filled with cabbage right now and smells terrible but hey the wife loves the stuff. She will enjoy it this coming winter on brats and stuff. I make a ham, potatoes and kraut in the crock pot thatâ€™s pretty good

Soap and water spray does a real nice job keeping them at bay. You have to spray the under side real good!

The guy behind me made some screens out of regular window screen and some scrap lumber to put over his cabbage and it worked great. Those stinking white butterflies could not get in to lay eggs. And the sparrows hated them as well they love to nip on those young cabbages.

My sister in law did something similar to keep her crop happy. I might try one of these days

I have limited space and always seem to over plant lol.

Possibly next year Ill show it in my garden blog

I over plant also I plant stuff I don't even use and just give away!
