Training Mme Alfred Carriere?

Try searching "Mme Alfred Carriere" in Google Images. Amazing. It seems to just devour houses whole. I finally managed to track one down and I've planted it on a west facing wall. I'd like it to grow up the west/north corner of the house, hopefully fanning out in either direction, framing the windows and maybe taking over my arbour a bit too. Just one thing: how on earth do people train these things? Many of these pictures of Mme Alfred Carriere don't show any evidence of a trellis. At the moment I've got the canes propped up with some twine until I figure out my big training solution. But this thing is a monster--it's only been in the ground a couple of months and I can't believe how fast it's growing. I definitely need to figure out my training plans soon. Any suggestions?
