Shoots!

My lilac bush is having a great time sending out shoots all over my garden. I really don't want this, just want to maintain the main bush.
What is the best way to remove these obnoxious parasitic tendrils?

Thanks. :?

With a shovel. Let friends and family come over and take root cuttings for their garden...

Hi Violin Teacher,

Don't forget to leave a few new sprouts around the main plant. As the plant ages, many people like to cut the oldest stems to the ground and let the new shoots take over. It can take from 5 to 7 years before the new shoots bloom.

Oh, I love your name. I used to play the violin in high school many, many years ago!
