Purple/Pink Flower

This flower popped up in my yard this year. It's pretty, but I want to make sure it won't harm my dogs if they get into it. Can anyone please help me identify it? Thanks!

I think it is hardy geranium, though the flower looks a little different from the ones I am familiar with.

If I am right, it is not toxic.

People think of geraniums as toxic but that is the non-hardy variety, sold as geraniums in the store. They are not actually geraniums, they are pelargonium and are unrelated.

RG, Could that not be mallow? (either way, still not toxic). Only reason I offer this up is because that flower looks too big for true geranium.

The leaves and flower both remind me a lot of a poppy mallow that I have. I do not think they would be toxic. Charlene

Thanks everyone! With your help and some further research on my part, I'm thinking my flower closely resembles mallow.

Maybe it can be something from Malva or Althea genus... as well...
