My turn to ask -- what is this?

Cut leaf rosette overwintered here in NJ Zone 6, now sending up flower stalk topped with this tiny sort of mock strawberry looking flower...

...found a few others volunteering in the area as seedlings, but I pulled them out. :twisted:

Maybe a buttercup of some type.

It looks a lot like Stylophorum diphyllum (woodland poppy or celandine poppy) Have the blooms increased in size at all since this photo was taken? The leaves look just like my woodland poppy, but usually the blooms aren't quite so... tiny lol

Look up small flower buttercup! I think Butterflylady is correct!

I think yours is immature.

Searching small flower buttercup I found Ranunculus parviflorus and Ranunculus abortivus. The flower looks very similar but the leaves don't seem to be a match. What variety were you looking at?

Thank you for your inputs! I agree definitely seems to be some kind of a buttercup/ranunculus ... I have been looking at pages of images. But so far the leaves are not the same, but there seems to be every shape imaginable among the species. :?
