gas cylinder operated vent openers

Hi: Can anyone tell me if those gas operated cylinders (for vent openings) you can purchase relatively cheap can endure being exposed to our cold Canadian climate or they need to be removed and stored inside????

Denis, I bought a cheap one from Harbor Freigh It didn't work , I took it back but didn't get another one. Maybe a something better than a cheap one.

There are several people here that have greenhouses, we might hear from them.

They should work fine since it is oil in the cylinders. I purchased 4 from harbor freight. 3 worked fine, I had to exchange the 4 th. one. The exchanged gas cylinder works fine. They are three years old now and still working.

The cylinders sold by Harbor Freight contain oil that expands and contracts with temperature and a sliding cylinder that is moved by the oil expanding and contracting. There is a set screw in the end of the cylinder that will adjust the temperature setting for opening and closing.
