Using pool noodles

I have been watching some utube videos showing using pool noodles in preference to rockwool as a medium. I decided to make up a Stasky hydroponic set up with pool noodle medium. It's certainly easy, time will tell how it performs.
I have a vertical tower set up and thinking about trying the pool noodle medium on that but it would mean running the pump for a longer time than I would with rockwool. Has anyone used pool noodle on their vertical set up on ebb and flow.

I’ve seen pool noodles used in various ways for hydroponics, aquaponics and aeroponics.

I guess my personal hesitancy is with the product being a foam — this probably wouldn’t faze anyone using styrofoam and other products as rafts, but I do wonder if they might more easily chemically leach into the solution when growing edibles.

Pool noodles are used out in full sun and in chlorinated water so I suppose they ARE more environmentally durable than some other foam products.

I have used those things for the cloner I made, and they work great. I've never used them in the larger baskets in the DW setup. Here are a few photos:
