when to transfer new plants

Hi.

Several seeds of my green amaranthus have germinated and the young tiny plants are around 1 inch to 1.5 inches long now. I use cotton to germinate them. I'm planning to transfer them to container cups with hydrotons.

I still feel its too tiny and fragile to transfer them and would like to find out when would be the right time to do the transfering.

On another matter, I noticed that unfortunately my butterhead lettuce seeds have not germinated at all. Appreciate it if someone can advice me on the best conditions for them to germinate. Should I keep the seeds in cool shady area or bright indirect sunlight area?

The lettuce can be mixed in a damp potting soil mix in a plastic bag or conainer and kept in the house for 3 days! Make a 2 inch layer of the mix on top of the soil you are planting in and pat down the mix! Lettuce will come up the next day or two in 50 or above temp inside or outside! Works every time with most lettuce and many other seeds!
