Cabbage

My cabbages are growing like mad. Last year I got busy on another project and didn't keep up with them. They got cabbage worms and looked like hell, so I pruned some of the lower leaves. It didn't seem like it hurt them because they still headed up nice. I am wondering if pruning a couple of the saddle blanket sized leaves off the the bottom will hurt them or will it make them want to head up faster. Besides they have totally covered the bed so there isn't much air circulation.

I would not prune them.

Those big leaves soaking up sunshine are what manufacture food for the plant and for the development of a head.

Guess you can prune a couple and not prune a couple and do a test?
