My rejuvinated garden with pics (now finished)

I have been busy, busy trying to keep busy that is. With life getting in the way I have been slowly but surely trying to rejuvenate my gardens. The main reason is the mass of grass and weeds that were growing along my fence. It was nearly impossible, no totally impossible to keep it under control. Weed whacking against a fence is futile. So now I will have a clean hard surface I can control them with. Not too mention my newer, smaller garden had a mix of those cheap fold out garden fences around it. It kept the dog at bay but looked pretty bad. It too was impossible to weed against.

Just look at the amount of amendments I need to add to fill that up! Next time don't you guy's let me wait so long in the year to start. Though I was waiting for tax money, but I have been pushing it to get the small one done. I am late in planting the cold crops. Though I managed to get a few in today. It was late when I finished and tomorrow they are calling for rain. But this week I will start filling it up with plants and seeds. Than onto finishing the other side. That bigger one is going to be mainly tomatoes so I have a little time. It was a pain I had to modify the post and the fencing to get it where I wanted.

This is the unfinished bigger garden. You can see the mass of growth at the fence line. The other garden was basically like this only uglier. ;D

Here are the plants I put in today in the garden, and Lucy. She is sad she can't be in my garden anymore after being constantly told to get the heck out. I expanded this last fall and didn't have enough fence to go all the way. So she loved going in there, than decided what fence I had up was great to jump over. >:(

While we are at it my garlic bed. I have 4 variety's going in here.

OH lovely! It looks fantastic ;D What are the first few plants you decided to put in?

Hopefully your dog will stay out. I have an outdoor cat that I need to keep out, but haven't even tackled anything for my fences yet!

I see the garden just keeps on expanding And you absolutely right, having a solid edge make so much easier to control "non-edible" growth! So, what are those first plants?

Looking good! I'm slowly getting the beds ready and planting as well, though I'm trying to direct sow as much as possible. I sowed pre germinated peas yesterday, so of course it went down to 25 lat night.

Apple I will direct seeding a lot more lettuce etc. That is the big problem I wanted to spread seed month's ago and let them do their thing. But I couldn't because the dog would have tromped everything.

Going to put two bunches of onions in right now before the rain gets here. Hopefully I have time to get some lettuce seed down.

Ok now I finished. Though I'm never done with anything. I finished last week but with dropping seeds , taking care of seeds, shopping for a new truck etc it has been hectic.

Here are the pics of the new old garden. I still have to spread out the soil and maybe get some more to fill in the empty spaces. But good enough to go. Oh yeah whoever said moving a full compost bin 5 feet to the right is easy was wrong.

Heres to s a great season, this will soon be filled with tomatoes and whatever else I can cram in there.

And yes it is more tidy before it was a mess. I could not control the grass and weeds along the fence I had up. With all the compost and whatnot it grew to the clouds and beyond.
